Rabbi Meir Stalevich

R. Meir ben Avraham Stalevich (1869-1949) was born in the small Lithuanian shtetle of Eishyshok. He was a disciple of the famous Lithuanian R. Alexander Moshe Lapidot. He took position of rabbi in Jewish communities of Girtagule and Kopciowo, in the time of WW1 was nominated rabbi of Dimitrovka , and after that served rabbi of Sebezh in Vitebsk Gubernia. In 1920-s till 1932 he took position of rabbi in Chislavichi, then moved to Eretz Israel and served rabbi of Zichron Moshe community in Jerusalem. He was one of the heads of "Union of Rabbis refugees from Russia and other countries". He is the author of responsa "Mibeit Meir".
